Hon. Mary Katherine “Katie” Kennedy of Houston owns
and operates the Upper Kirby Mediation Center in Houston. Kennedy has
mediated or arbitrated thousands of disputes involving all areas of
civil law and has served for over fifteen years as an Assigned Judge
in the courts of the State of Texas. After law school, she joined the
law firm of Bracewell LLP and practiced commercial litigation until
she was elected to the 164th Judicial District Court in Harris County
and then reelected for a subsequent term. Kennedy served as a Commissioner
of the Texas Access to Justice Commission from 2007-2013. She received
her Bachelor’s Degree Summa Cum Laude from Rhodes College and her law
degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
