Personal Financial Statement Due April 30, 2014

PFS Extension Request Form

Statements Due April 30, 2014:  State officers are required to file a personal financial statement (PFS) with the Texas Ethics Commission on or before April 30 if the state officer does not already have a statement covering calendar year ending December 31, 2013, on file with the Texas Ethics Commission.

Extension:  If you wish to request a 60-day extension of the April 30 filing deadline, your request must be submitted to the Texas Ethics Commission no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 30.  To request an extension of the filing deadline, click hereThe filing deadline with an extension granted is June 30, 2014. 

Notice to File a Personal Financial Statement will be mailed approximately one month before filing deadline to individuals required to file with the Texas Ethics Commission.

Holdovers: An appointed officer who resigns or whose term of office expires AND who ceases to participate in agency functions is not required to file the personal financial statement that is due because of service in that office after the resignation date or term expiration date.  Therefore, if your term expired or you resigned before January 1, 2014, AND you ceased to participate in the functions of the agency, you may not be required to file future personal financial statements.  If this situation applies to you, you must give written notice to the Governor’s Office and to the Texas Ethics Commission.  Notice to the Texas Ethics Commission can be given by filing Form PFS-PF (Participation Form).  Call the Texas Ethics Commission to request a copy of this form.

Local Officeholders: Certain local officeholders may be required to file a personal financial statement with a local filing authority.  See Local Government Code Chapter 159.
